Create or replace a scaling policy.
curl --request PUT \ --url https://stratum.example.com/v1/projects/example/asg/groups/example/policies/example \ --header 'Authorization: Bearer <token>' \ --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \ --data '{ "policyKind": "target_tracking", "config": {}, "enabled": true }'The asg-scaling reconciler (every 60 s) evaluates
metric policies against the project-scoped instant query over the
group’s InService instances past warmup and applies the desired size
under the group’s cooldown; scheduled policies fire on their cron. A
replace keeps the policy id and history. Counted against
asg.scaling_policies.count per group. Cedar-gated on
asg:PutScalingPolicy.

Kind-specific configuration. Unknown fields are refused.
target_tracking — metricName (wire form, e.g. stratum_compute_instance_cpu_percent; the dotted spelling is accepted), metricAggregation (Average | Sum | Maximum | Minimum, default Average), targetValue (> 0), estimatedInstanceWarmupSeconds (instances younger than this are excluded from the metric), disableScaleIn, optional query (full PromQL replacing the generated one; project-scoped either way). Desired = ceil(N × metric / target), clamped to [min, max].
step — metricName/metricAggregation/query as above, adjustmentType (ChangeInCapacity | ExactCapacity | PercentChangeInCapacity), steps[] of {lowerBound?, upperBound?, scalingAdjustment} on the absolute metric value (lower inclusive, upper exclusive, nil = open), optional cooldownSeconds (overrides the group’s), minAdjustmentMagnitude.
scheduled — scheduleCron (5-field), timeZone (IANA, default UTC), and at least one of minSize, maxSize, desiredSize. Fires once when due; a missed window fires once, never per missed occurrence.

The findings of a rejected IAM policy document (custom and resource policies).
One finding of a rejected IAM policy document. A rejection lists every finding, so the author fixes the document in one round trip.
object
The finding, e.g. INVALID_DOCUMENT, UNKNOWN_ACTION, ACTION_NOT_APPLICABLE.
Index of the statement at fault; -1 for the document as a whole.
The offending action, where one is at fault (ACTION_NOT_APPLICABLE).
Field errors, for codes that carry them: each problem at its field
(see FieldError). Documented on the responses that set it, e.g.
approveNodeJoin’s INVALID_INPUT and JOIN_APPROVAL_REFUSED.
Absent otherwise.
One field’s problem, the stage-2 installer API’s shape.
field is the field’s path, message what is wrong with it.
object
The field’s path, e.g. links[0].interface, disks[1].confirm,
mgmt.address or role; empty for the whole request.
Structured facts about the refusal, for codes that carry them. The
shape is fixed per code and documented on the response that answers
it, e.g. IMAGE_POOL_MISMATCH (see ImagePoolMismatchDetails) and
IMAGE_IN_USE. Absent for codes that carry none.

The API-boundary throttle caps request throughput per principal and per project; code is RATE_LIMITED (distinct from the quota engine’s QUOTA_EXCEEDED). The Retry-After header carries the seconds to wait. Applies to any authenticated endpoint — it is enforced by middleware, not per-path.
