Create an instance profile..
curl --request POST \ --url https://stratum.example.com/v1/projects/example/iam/instance-profiles \ --header 'Authorization: Bearer <token>' \ --header 'Content-Type: application/json' \ --data '{ "name": "example", "displayName": "example", "description": "example", "serviceAccountId": "example", "trustPolicy": "example", "credentialTtlSeconds": 1 }'Binds a project-scoped service account to a Cedar trust policy
and a credential TTL. An instance that references this profile
can call IMDS to mint short-lived credentials for the bound
service account — provided the trust policy permits the calling
instance to assume it (iam:AssumeInstanceProfile).
The name is the machine identifier the IMDS endpoint returns
at /latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/<name>; it is
unique per project and immutable after create. Requires
project-admin+.
Authorizations

Section titled “Request Bodyrequired”object
Cedar trust policy source. Re-validated as Cedar at create time.
TTL of each minted credential. Omit / 0 = default 3600.

{ "name": "example", "displayName": "example", "description": "example", "serviceAccountId": "example", "trustPolicy": "example", "credentialTtlSeconds": 1}Responses
Section titled “Responses”Instance profile created.
Binds an instance to a service account + Cedar trust policy +
credential TTL. Apps inside a VM with the
profile attached call IMDS; the trust policy decides whether the
calling instance may assume the bound service account, and on a
pass the IMDS path mints short-lived credentials. A profile
enters orphaned when its backing service account is deleted.
object
Machine identifier returned by the IMDS endpoint at
/latest/meta-data/iam/security-credentials/<name>. Unique
per project; immutable after create.
Cedar trust policy — controls which instances may assume this profile.
TTL of each minted credential. Default 3600, min 900, max 43200.
Example
{ "state": "active"}INVALID_INPUT — a required field is missing or the TTL is
out of range. INSTANCE_PROFILE_TRUST_INVALID — the trust
policy is not well-formed Cedar.
object
The findings of a rejected IAM policy document (custom and resource policies).
One finding of a rejected IAM policy document. A rejection lists every finding, so the author fixes the document in one round trip.
object
The finding, e.g. INVALID_DOCUMENT, UNKNOWN_ACTION, ACTION_NOT_APPLICABLE.
Index of the statement at fault; -1 for the document as a whole.
The offending action, where one is at fault (ACTION_NOT_APPLICABLE).
Field errors, for codes that carry them: each problem at its field
(see FieldError). Documented on the responses that set it, e.g.
approveNodeJoin’s INVALID_INPUT and JOIN_APPROVAL_REFUSED.
Absent otherwise.
One field’s problem, the stage-2 installer API’s shape.
field is the field’s path, message what is wrong with it.
object
The field’s path, e.g. links[0].interface, disks[1].confirm,
mgmt.address or role; empty for the whole request.
Structured facts about the refusal, for codes that carry them. The
shape is fixed per code and documented on the response that answers
it, e.g. IMAGE_POOL_MISMATCH (see ImagePoolMismatchDetails) and
IMAGE_IN_USE. Absent for codes that carry none.
object
Example
{ "issues": [ { "code": "ACTION_NOT_APPLICABLE", "action": "compute:CreateVpc" } ]}Missing or invalid token.
