Disable TOTP MFA + drop recovery codes..

DELETE
/v1/iam/users/{userId}/mfa/totp
Code sample: Shell / cURL
curl --request DELETE \
--url https://stratum.example.com/v1/iam/users/example/mfa/totp \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer <token>' \
--header 'Content-Type: application/json' \
--data '{ "code": "example" }'

Removes the user’s TOTP secret and every recovery code. Idempotent. Self-action: iam:DisableMFA; admin (recovery for a locked-out user): iam:DisableMFAAdmin.

disabling your OWN active MFA takes a step-up, a current TOTP or an unused recovery code in the body. Without one the call answers 403 MFA_REQUIRED; with a wrong one, 403 MFA_INVALID. MFA is left as it was either way. It is 403 rather than 401 because the session is valid. An admin resetting another user’s MFA sends no body; that is audited as iam.mfa.reset_by_admin.

. Body of DELETE /v1/iam/users/{userId}/mfa/totp. Required (with code) when a user disables their OWN active MFA; an admin resetting another user’s MFA sends none.

object
code

A current TOTP code, or one unused recovery code (spent by this call).

string

issues

The findings of a rejected IAM policy document (custom and resource policies).

Array<object>

One finding of a rejected IAM policy document. A rejection lists every finding, so the author fixes the document in one round trip.

string
errors

Field errors, for codes that carry them: each problem at its field (see FieldError). Documented on the responses that set it, e.g. approveNodeJoin’s INVALID_INPUT and JOIN_APPROVAL_REFUSED. Absent otherwise.

Array<object>

One field’s problem, the stage-2 installer API’s shape. field is the field’s path, message what is wrong with it.

object

The field’s path, e.g. links[0].interface, disks[1].confirm, mgmt.address or role; empty for the whole request.

string

Structured facts about the refusal, for codes that carry them. The shape is fixed per code and documented on the response that answers it, e.g. IMAGE_POOL_MISMATCH (see ImagePoolMismatchDetails) and IMAGE_IN_USE. Absent for codes that carry none.
