stratumctl volumes

Manage block volumes

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes [flags]

Aliases: volume, vol

Attach a volume to an instance

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes attach <volume-id> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes attach vol-3k8m2x7q9a --instance i-uy3ureaklq
stratumctl volumes attach vol-3k8m2x7q9a --instance i-uy3ureaklq --mode rwx
Flag Type Default Description
--instance string Target instance ID (required)
--mode string rw Attachment mode (rw | rwx)
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)

Create a volume (returns 202; poll volumes get until state=available)

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes create <name> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes create data-01 --size-gib 100
stratumctl volumes create data-02 --size-gib 500 --storage-class replicated --az lab-1a
Flag Type Default Description
--az string Availability zone override
--description string Free-form description
--display-name string Human-friendly display name
--iops-limit int 0 IOPS ceiling (default: the storage class default)
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)
--size-gib int64 0 Volume size in GiB (required, minimum 1)
--storage-class string Storage class name (default: the install’s default class)
--throughput-limit-mbps int 0 Throughput ceiling in MB/s (default: the class default)

Soft-delete a volume

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes delete <volume-id> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes delete vol-3k8m2x7q9a
Flag Type Default Description
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)

Detach a volume from its instance

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes detach <volume-id> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes detach vol-3k8m2x7q9a
Flag Type Default Description
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)

Describe a volume

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes get <volume-id> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes get vol-3k8m2x7q9a
stratumctl volumes get vol-3k8m2x7q9a --output json
Flag Type Default Description
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)

List volumes in a project

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes list [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes list
stratumctl volumes list --project p-team-a --output json
Flag Type Default Description
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)

Grow a volume online

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes resize <volume-id> [flags]

Grow a volume to a larger size. The volume moves to “resizing” and the lifecycle worker grows the backend; an attached volume is grown with the instance running and the guest sees the new capacity at once. Grow the filesystem inside the guest afterwards (xfs_growfs / resize2fs). A volume never shrinks.

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes resize vol-3k8m2x7q9a --size-gib 200
Flag Type Default Description
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)
--size-gib int64 0 New size in GiB (required; at least the current size)

Change a volume’s I/O limits (; applies at the instance’s next start)

Terminal window
stratumctl volumes set-limits <volume-id> [flags]
Terminal window
stratumctl volumes set-limits vol-3k8m2x7q9a --iops-limit 3000 --throughput-limit-mbps 125
stratumctl volumes set-limits vol-3k8m2x7q9a --iops-limit 6000
Flag Type Default Description
--iops-limit int 0 IOPS ceiling (at most the storage class maximum)
--project string Project ID (defaults to STRATUM_PROJECT or profile project_id)
--throughput-limit-mbps int 0 Throughput ceiling in MB/s (at most the class maximum)
